Mr. Vic Eilenfield is a Senior Advisor for Health Information Technology with The Winkenwerder Company. Prior to joining The Winkenwerder Company, Mr. Eilenfield served as Interim Deputy in the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) at the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). In this role he supported the nation’s early efforts at expanding health information exchanges and helped guide the development of the Nationwide Health Information Network (NHIN).
Prior to his work at HHS, Mr. Eilenfield served as the program manager for AHLTA – the global electronic health record system of the Military Health System that supports 30,000 clinicians, 65 hospitals and over 400 clinics around the world. He oversaw implementation of this global electronic records system to thousands of physicians, nurses, medical personnel and clinic administrators. Mr. Eilenfield is a retired US Army Colonel who served in many leadership roles for more than two decades during a distinguished in the Military Health System, including health center administrator and policy analyst. Mr. Eilenfield is a recognized national expert in health information technology and its uses in both the public and private sector.
Mr. Eilenfield holds Masters degrees from Baylor University and the University of Georgia, and a BS in Psychology from North Georgia College. Mr. Eilenfield is a Fellow of the American College of Health Executives.
